Renew Domain FAQs.
If we are not your original registrar, before we can renew your domain, we will need to move your domain from your previous registrar to our system first.

We recommend to do this right away if you have about 1 year or 1/2 year left before your current domain expires.

If I transfer my domain to 2uNet before the expiration date, would I lose the time with my previous registrar?

Essentially, the transfer doesn't cost anything. If you choose to renew your domain one year, This one year is added on top of whatever time is remaining on the domain from the other registrar. E.g., if you registered foo.org with Network Solutions, and it has 1 year remaining on the registration, then after a successful transfer it will expire in 2 years.

How long does it take to transfer domain registration from the previous registrar to 2uNet?

Once the domain owner agrees to the transfer, it is automatically sent to the Registry where it awaits approval. Unless the losing Registrar explicitly denies the transfer, it will go through in 5 days. It can go through sooner if the losing Registrar explicitly approves the transfer but we don't look to see that happen very often so it will likely be the five days for a transfer to occur.

: It has come to our attention that Network Solutions "Registrar" (which is different from Network Solutions "Registry") has been denying transfer requests when they have sent out an invoice for renewal. While they are allowed to deny requests after the renewal date has passed, they often invoice well ahead of the renewal date, which is resulting in them denying transfer requests when they should not be.

How do the transfer and renewal work?

Moving a domain from another registrar to 2uNet hinges on one important part of your domain -the Admin contact e-mail address. When you request the transfer of a domain, an e-mail is sent to the Admin contact of the domain, asking if they agree to the transfer. If you or whoever else has access to this e-mail address doesn't respond to the confirmation e-mail and accept the transfer within 5 days (or they explicitly deny the transfer), the request is automatically cancelled. We will contact you to try to resolve the problem. If we can not move your domain from your previous registrar, we will refund your payment.

What if my admin e-mail is no longer valid?

If your Admin contact e-mail address for the domain in question is no longer valid, you must contact the original registrar to request a change of the Admin contact e-mail address. We can't assist you in transferring it until the Admin contact e-mail actually works so we can verify who is requesting the transfer.

Can transferring a domain to 2uNet Registration Service cause any downtime?

No. Changing the registrar entry for your domain on the root servers is immediate, and is not much different than, say, changing contact information or name server entries (except that it can only be done by a registrar under certain circumstances). Name server entries are the only thing really critical to your domain pointing where it should. When you transfer a domain to us, the name server entries remain what they were with the old registrar.

What factors could prevent or delay a domain transfer?

Do you own the domain, or have you made arrangements with the owner to approve the transfer? Is the Admin contact e-mail address valid for the domain you wish to transfer? Has the domain been
registered by the other registrar for longer than 60 days (there is a mandatory waiting period for potential domain disputes)? Is the account the original registrar "in good standing" (paid in full)? Was the domain registered for at least 60 days with the last registrar?
